I decided something today, I am going to do the Blogging A-Z Challenge! I know it was short notice, in fact I didn’t know about it until today. But I decided, why not?
For those who don’t know, the A-Z challenge is based around the idea there are 30 days in April, and 26 letters in the alphabet. If you take off the Sunday’s (for good behavior of course!) it leaves you with 26 days. Therefore, 26 days for blogging, all themed around letters of the alphabet. Some people chose to do themes within this, I myself was not going to, however while thinking of titles to go with the days, I realised how much easier it was to think of ideas!
Because of this, and because today is the day whereby you release your theme in the A-Z Blogging world, I would like to do a rundown of what posts I am hoping to do over the next month.
My theme will be:
Gender!
So without further ado, here are (roughly) the posts I will be doing for each letter of the alphabet, loosely themed off of my Trans Masculine alphabet post I made earlier this year.
‘Alpha’
Binding
Coming out
Drag
Education
Feminism
Gay?
Hormones
I am more than my gender
Jock strap
Knowing what to do
Let’s talk, mental health
Mums and dad’s/parents/mummy’s little girl
Names
Out/Being visible
‘Passing’
Queer
Recognition (GRC/GRA)
Stealth (guest post)
Transition
Understanding it all
V-necks and other clothing
Waiting
XX/XY Chromosome argument
Young people
Zzz… Sleepy thankful post for the month
Some of them are less solid than others (see M) and I am not going too far into what each one means until the day comes, but keep an eye out for my posts on Instagram, twitter and posts on my Facebook page for hints as to what is coming up for each one!
To find out more about some of the terminology I am using in the posts, check out this post here, Deciphering the Code.
I hope you will join myself, and the others taking part in this wonderful challenge. If you feel up to it, click this link here and go ahead and join us!
Hey there!
It’s quite an interesting theme you have out here. All the best for the challenge 🙂

Welcome to the challenge and what a great theme to choose! I think there are lot of people who could use some education on these topics and I’m so looking forward to your posts. Even if I don’t have time for the rest, I’m definitely going to check yours.

Thank you Rian, that means a lot to me! I hope it helps with understanding, for people who are trans, non-binary, and cis people. I will check out your blog soon too!

You seem to be very well organised. Agree with poster above that the best themes are those which reflect the blogger and blog, and in my experience those are the ones which get the max out of the challenge too. All the very best for an awesome time at the A-Z,
Nilanjana.

Welcome to the Challenge! Kuddos for jumping in! I feel the best themes are always the themes that are true to the person or the nature of the blog.

Congratulations on taking the plunge and signing up for “a month of madness”! But it’s madness in a good way. 🙂
Your theme is unique and it should be quite educational too.
See you around on the A to Z circuit!

Good for you jumping on the bandwagon this soon before the challenge begins 🙂 I did that the first year I participated in it and it was a crazy wild adventure writing posts, visiting people’s blogs, etc. Your theme is very interesting and really I have never seen it as a theme before in my now 4th year of the challenge. Good luck with it!

Thank you Betty. I am really excited to try it out. I write a lot about gender anyway so I figured why not make it my theme for the month. Here’s hoping it goes well!
I shall check out your blog too momentarily! X

I’ll definitely have to keep an eye on this one. As much as I try, I really struggle to understand trans issues because it’s so different from my own experience. Plus I have a character in my short story cycle that I’ll be getting back to once April is over that is a trans man and in the first story he’s in (which is the one from his viewpoint) he doesn’t properly know/hasn’t accepted it yet, but has some behaviors that suggest it. But I want it to be really subtle you know? Like, it’s just a part of his life, not the focus of the story or ever outright stated. Anyway, maybe this will give me some ideas or at least a better understanding. Looking forward to it!

Ooo thank you Alex! That sounds really interesting. I will have to keep an eye out for your character. If you have any questions my blog doesn’t answer (baring in mind obviously that my experiences don’t nessisarily sum up every trans guy. Especially since I am Non-Binary) please feel free to message me. I am glad you aren’t focusing on the trans part, it will be refreshing to read something where it is subtle.

Will do, thanks! Now I’m excited about my book in a way I haven’t been in a long time, even if it’s mostly for one story. Hope it lasts while I focus on my stories for the a-to-z challenge. I’m sure it will. It’s the project that got me into writing, so it’s special.
